Heat Stress in Schools Fact Sheet

During extreme heat days, classrooms filled with bodies regularly exceed 85 degrees. This heat and humidity make for a difficult and unhealthy learning and working environment for our students and staff.

For months, Teens Lead @ Work (TL@W) has been researching and developing a training on how heat stress impacts student learning, as well as the adverse health illnesses that arise from prolonged exposure to extreme heat in classrooms. Over the summer, TL@W will be hard at work conducting additional research and developing policies that protect students and staff from heat stress. Please take a moment to check out our teens’ fact sheet on the issue by clicking here.
