We Did It!!

We are ecstatic to bring you some truly great news. On March 1, a bill expanding OSHA protections to almost 430,000 public sector and municipal workers is on its way to the Governor’s desk after it was enacted in the Senate with a 36-0 unanimous roll call vote today!!!

This is a victory over a decade in the making that was largely made possible by your continued and generous support of MassCOSH.  Thank you!  Not only will this be a huge boost to the health and safety of municipal workers in Massachusetts, but also to our partners in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania who are trying to pass similar bills.
 
Because of your support, every worker in Massachusetts is now covered by Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) protections. No longer will public workers be treated differently than their private sector brothers and sisters under law. Gone will be policies that failed to clearly define what measures public agencies should employ to keep workers safe. Workers from Medford to Microsoft will now know exactly what must be done to keep them safe on the job.
