The pandemic has highlighted what you already knew: workplace safety matters!

Our 46th Celebrating the Movement is our long-overdue opportunity to honor all those who fought for workers as a deadly pandemic swept our commonwealth. This evening is also the perfect time to catch up with friends and colleagues as you enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

[Current event safety requirements include proof of vaccination and masking. Updated 3/18/22]
 

This year, we are honored to award the following and celebrate their contributions to the movement:

  • Labor Leadership Award - Chrissy Lynch, Chief of Staff, MA AFL-CIO
  • Coalition for Worker Justice Award - AFT Massachusetts, Boston Teachers Union, and the Massachusetts Teachers Association
  • Public Health Leadership Award - James Laing, Workplace Fatality Project Coordinator at the MA Department of Public Health
  • Immigrant Worker of Courage Award - Maritza Manrique, Mayra Molina, and Beatriz Yanez

La pandemia ha puesto un enfoque en lo que ya se sabía: ¡la seguridad en el lugar de trabajo es important!

Nuestra 46.ª Celebración del Movimiento es nuestra oportunidad, largamente esperada, de honrar a todos aquellos que lucharon por los trabajadores mientras una pandemia mortal arrasaba nuestra comunidad. Esta noche también es el momento perfecto para reunirse con amigos y colegas mientras disfrutamos de refrescos y aperitivos y una barra de pago en efectivo.

Este año, tenemos el honor de reconocer a los siguientes activistas y celebrar sus contribuciones al Movimiento:

  • Premio a las Trabajadoras Inmigrante Valerosas - Maritza Manrique, Mayra Molina y Beatriz Yáñez
  • Premio de Liderazgo Laboral - Chrissy Lynch, Jefa de Gabinete, MA AFL-CIO
  • Premio a la Coalición para la Justicia de los Trabajadores: AFT Massachusetts, Boston Teachers Union y Massachusetts Teachers Association (3 Sindicatos representando Profesores en MA y Boston)
  • Premio de Liderazgo en Salud Pública - James Laing, Coordinador del Proyecto de Fatalidades en los Lugares de Trabajo - Departamento de Salud Pública de MA

Workers’ Memorial Day is not only about remembrance. It is also about community, responsibility, and action. It is about making sure that fewer families experience this grief in the future. It is about affirming that worker health and safety must remain a shared priority across every region, every sector, and every community.
